1st Erlanger Berg Colloquium – Landmark Discoveries in Immunology

26. May 2015 @ 8:00 - 28. May 2015 @ 17:00

Free

This will be the first colloquium within a series of lectures in immunology for graduate stu- dents and faculty.

The colloquium is embedded in the Bergkirchweih, which is considered to be the fifth season of the year in Erlangen. This is the time that Erlangen comes alive not only with immunology but also with noise, bustle and people. Kicking back, letting lose and dancing on the tables is heartily encouraged.

The Bergkirchweih or Der Berg (as the locals call it) is so called due to its location on a hill. This hill houses numerous cellars which were and still are partially used by brewers to store beer barrels since the conditions are perfect. Once a year on the first Thursday before Pentecost one of the biggest outdoor beer gardens in Europe opens its doors, or rather its seats, to the public. About 1 million people visit the Berg during the 12 day festival.
