Science Market & Science Days

Science Days

The annual Science Days, where numerous institutions from science, education and industry provide an insight into the world of science and technology with workshops, shows and interactive exhibits, are hosted by Europa-Park Rust. Science und Technologie e.V. and Europa-Park have been working together successfully for many years and inspire pupils, teachers and families for science and technology with their joint events.

The aim of the Science Days is to make science and technology tangible and interesting for everyone. Many exciting experiments and incredible science shows invite you to experiment and marvel. The Science Days also want to give new impulses for teaching. The Association Science und Technologie e.V. therefore pay particular attention to the pedagogical aspects of this event. The aim is to present complex issues to students and young people in an understandable and interesting way, so that the content they learn will be remembered for a long time to come.

In 2016, PhD students of the integrated graduate program of TRR130 participated at the booth of the BIOSS Center for Biological Signaling Studies in Freiburg and, among other things, isolated DNA with participants and explained the cells of the immune system using a fun magnetic game. In 2017, support was provided for the Rarenet booth, where visitors had the opportunity to immerse themselves in the world of rare diseases and the work of the project’s clinics and research centers.

Science Market

The Science Market takes place every two years in Freiburg. Many facilities and institutes of the university as well as other research institutions and companies from the region use the opportunity to present themselves and their research or work to the public. Three PhD students of the integrated research training group of TRR130 participated at the booth of the BIOSS Centre for Biological Signalling Studies in 2015. As part of an area game, they ran around Freiburg’s Münsterplatz  “dressed up” as a B cell receptor (BCR), kinase and antibody. Further they explained signal transduction in B cells to children and their parents.
